Beacon Hill is a special property rich in history and an escape for sojourners over the last 150 years.
As the name suggests, Beacon Hill has been a land mark and a light on a hill since early in the 1860’s when Major Robert Paton brought his young family from England via India to make his home here. Throughout the generations visitors to Beacon Hill have recognised the special qualities of peace and tranquillity and inspiration that have become a lasting legacy of the founding families.
Remaining in the family, Beacon Hill is the home of many ventures; including our Beacon Hill Country Store, Beacon Hill Market Days and other ventures coming soon.

Beacon Hill began as a small cob house built in 1852 by Edward Green, it was substantially extended in 1862 by Major Robert Mercer Paton to accommodate his family whom had recently arrived 3rd May from India on board the Lord Worsley.
Records show that on 25 August 1862, Major Paton purchased the initial estate of 653 acres for 3000 pounds from the occupier Edward Webby. Retired from the Bengal Cavalry with the rank of Major, Robert Paton his wife Maria and seven children made Beacon Hill their home.
Henry Davidson Paton was the first of four more children to be born at Beacon Hill. For 150 years and across six generations to this day, Beacon Hill has been known as home. A defining characteristic and challenge that has endured through the descendants, from the great great great grand parents to now, is captured in the following passage of scripture.
“So choose life in order that you and your descendants may live, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him.”
